Dear Friends:
I am writing to ask you for your support in an extraordinary
program that I have been allowed to participate in. The organization, Helping Hands Medical
Missions (HHMM), is a nonprofit Catholic group that travels internationally to
provide free healthcare to developing countries, and also strives to share the
Catholic faith. Primary care occurs in a
clinic or through house calls in the various areas that are visited.
This summer, from June 30th to July 11th, I will have the
privilege of traveling to Itacoatiara, Brazil,
and I will work with other volunteering translators, students, and physicians
to administer medical care to those in the vicinity, including parts of the
Amazon. Not only is this a chance for me
to serve others, but it is also an exceptional opportunity to further my
education and career in a way that is unavailable through school. I believe that this is an excellent way for
me to take my first step towards my goal of continuing mission work throughout
my medical career, and I am very grateful for your help towards my ambition.
In order to volunteer in Itacoatiara, I must provide
the cost of the trip. This is where I need
your assistance. The fee for
transportation, room and board, food, and medical supplies in Brazil is required by May 30, 2007 to HHMM, while the rest of my expenses (airfare,
visa, and immunizations) must be accounted for by June 15, 2007. Please take
this into consideration when making your donation. I will be incredibly thankful for your
support in sponsoring me on this trip. I
will be sure to return with pictures and experiences to share, and hopefully
they will change your life, as I am positive they will change mine.
